Medialab Solutions BV of The Netherlands and TLC, Inc., based in Inwood, WV, have reached an exclusive partnership agreement - the result of which will be sales and distribution of the AquaBrowser Library product to libraries all over the US and Canada. This exclusive agreement is part of the evolving relationship between the two companies, and clearly shows that the relationship has only grown stronger. The building blocks for the initial partnership were initiated in 2003. With all the interest and AquaBrowser trials generated in the US, the next logical step forward was exclusivity.
TLC, already a strategic partner, was the first library solutions company to sell and co-implement AquaBrowser Library in the US -- to Lexington Public Library. "TLC has been so enthusiastic and 100 percent committed to the product since the very first meeting. Both teams have been working hard and closely together to create the best possible AquaBrowser solution available. The product not only works seamlessly with TLC's CARL.Solution and Library.Solution, but also with any other library system. As of today, together we will promote and sell AquaBrowser Library to any library in the US and Canada. This unique partnership ensures the best organization for total customer satisfaction," says Medialab CEO Bas Zwaan.
TLC CEO Annette Murphy remarked: "Medialab's AquaBrowser Library has achieved a breakthrough in rich, graphical and extremely friendly OPAC searching. Feedback by patrons and librarians about the AquaBrowser interface and search engine has been phenomenal. We are very excited and proud to be the exclusive provider of 'the next big thing' in user interfaces for libraries. AquaBrowser represents a true paradigm shift that will change the way patrons explore library collections."
The adaptability of AquaBrowser Library allows the product to connect to any ILS, thus not limiting its use solely to TLC products. Under this agreement, AquaBrowser Library is available to all libraries in the North American market exclusively through TLC. The only exception will be existing VTLS library clients, in accordance with the existing strategic partnership between Medialab Solutions and VTLS, Inc.
Positioning itself for a very busy future, the Medialab Solutions sales team will place particular focus on the European and Asian markets. AquaBrowser Library is already in use in the Singapore National Library, as well as numerous libraries in and around Europe. There are over 20 product trials in process across Europe.
Medialab's direct sales team has recently implemented two versions of AquaBrowser in Belgium and has now achieved a 60 percent share of the Dutch Public Library market, up from 40 percent in 2004.
