WOBURN, MA -- Inmagic, Inc., a global provider of advanced content catalog solutions to corporations and governments worldwide, today announces the release of Inmagic Presto! – a Web-based content catalog for accessing, sharing and re-purposing information assets. Built on the successful Inmagic Content Server using the Microsoft SQL Server backend, Presto! leverages the Microsoft .NET technologies to provide unified access to search, identify and retrieve content no matter where it resides. Businesses continue to amass unmanaged and unstructured content at an alarming rate. Residing in any number of places, this content is isolated from a content management or business system and remains relatively untouched within the organization – it is virtually lost. End users can neither find nor access the content, often leading to uninformed business decisions and duplicated effort.
“Our research shows that providing access to the unmanaged and unstructured content resources of an organization remains a challenge, one that can be very costly to information-intensive organizations where knowledge workers may spend significant amounts of time ‘not finding' the information they need.” stated Joshua Duhl, Research Director, Rich Media at IDC.
Inmagic Presto! is designed to help information-intensive organizations maximize value from their information assets and interoperate within the overall IT infrastructure. Presto! can serve as a repository for housing content from legacy systems as well as maintain extensive metadata about an organization's content whether it resides in the Presto! database or elsewhere. In addition, Presto! automates the capture, aggregation and categorization of the content to provide integrated search in order to facilitate information discovery. Combining local control of content with enterprise-wide access, Presto! requires that content managers need only manage the lifecycle of the original content. The flexibility and functionality allow businesses to access, manage, and re-purpose diverse knowledge assets.
"Our research in the last two years has consistently shown that the top reason for customers to invest in content technologies is to unify access to their scattered information. Inmagic's new Presto! content catalog offering pulls together content from multiple sources to facilitate information integration, discovery and collection," said Mr. Duhl.
“Inmagic Presto! evolved from examination of our client base of over 5,000 global customers and how Inmagic technology has been implemented within their organizations. The result was the equivalent of a content catalog characterized by ease of use, flexibility and rapid deployment.” said Phillip Green, President and CEO, Inmagic Inc. “With Inmagic Presto!, customers can take advantage of the experience accrued from years working with information-intensive organizations and benefit from the reduced complexity traditionally associated with Inmagic technology. We recognize that not all content is created equal, but must be accessible enterprise-wide.”
