(FORT WORTH, Texas -- March 15, 2004) -- Library Concepts is the new company name recently announced by library automation software developer, Diakon Systems LLC. "With our new products and expanding services, we thought a more descriptive company name was in order," noted Glenn McEowen, Vice President for Sales and Development. "We are the same folks who have always provided easy-to-use software with attractive pricing and responsive support. We believe our users and new clients will appreciate the more memorable name."
Library Concepts is the developer and provides sales and support for "PC Card Catalog," an integrated library automation system for Windows (95,98,NT,2000,XP) computers. With many standard features such as OPAC, printing labels and catalog cards, extensive listing, advanced circulation capabilities, "PC Card Catalog" also includes built-in features such as MARC import, convenient authority access, bar code circulation, AACR2 search ability and donor tracking with bookplate printing.
While proving popular with smaller (under 25,000 items) libraries, "PC Card Catalog" has increasingly found its way into larger libraries. A recent addition has been network licensing. Two network options are available: a 3-user, limited network license and an unlimited network license.
Support for "PC Card Catalog" users has always been free, but limited to e-mail communications. Library Concepts has announced the addition of a subscription support option called "Enhanced Support." In addition to priority e-mail, users will also have unlimited phone support, update notification and upgrade discounts. Users may still opt for the free support if it serves their library sufficiently.
Another recent addition to the "PC Card Catalog" family has been the web product, "Net Card Catalog." Working in the Windows 2000/2003 server (IIS) environment, "Net Card Catalog" makes the "PC Card Catalog's" data available on the web. The innovative "PC Card Catalog" search features are included in the "Net Card Catalog" web OPAC.
The "PC Card Catalog" system has been marketed since 1998 as a Windows product. The company previously developed and sold several DOS-based library products.
