Abstract: Infotrieve announced a 20% off pre-release worldwide sales promotion through December 15, 2004, for its newest version of Ariel, the most widely used interlibrary loan document transmission system in the world.

Los Angeles, CA, October 26, 2004 -- Infotrieve, Inc., announced today a 20% off pre-release worldwide sales promotion through December 15, 2004, for its newest version of Ariel, the most widely used interlibrary loan (ILL) document transmission system in the world. Ariel 4.0, set for release by the end of 2004, will include numerous new features such as the ability to network Ariel workstations, address-book sharing, load balancing, advanced image and scanning capabilities, and enhanced patron functionality.

Ariel is used to turn a personal computer and a scanner into a state-of-the-art document transmission station on the Internet. Users are able to send scanned images of electronic documents to other Ariel workstations anywhere in the world, using either file transfer protocol (FTP) or e-mail; and convert them to portable document format (PDF) files for standardized viewing by recipients.

"Ariel 4.0 is the most robust version to date and will make electronic interlibrary loan transactions faster and more convenient for our customers," said Infotrieve Director of Marketing and Product Development, Jenny Connelly. "Ariel 4.0 benefits will be magnified for organizations with two or more Ariel interlibrary loan work stations, since they will be able to capitalize upon the new networking capabilities."

Pre-release upgrades to full versions of Ariel 4.0 from versions 3.3 and 3.01 will be available at a pre-release price of (USD) $556. Pre-release upgrades of full versions of Ariel 4.0 from 2.x versions will be available at a pre-release price of (USD) $756. Existing and new users can upgrade and learn more about Ariel 4.0 online at www.infotrieve.com/ariel.

Ariel, an Infotrieve product, is the most widely used interlibrary loan document transmission system worldwide. Ariel compresses data for faster transmission and enables users to send multiple files at one time. Faster and clearer than a fax, Ariel can also manage difficult text types, from Asian scripts to mathematical equations, and the most detailed images, from Elizabethan woodcuts to NASA photos. Infotrieve acquired Ariel from Research Libraries Group in 2003.
