INWOOD, WV- October 22, 2004 - Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) in Virginia will implement TLC's stand-alone acquisitions and fund management system, Online Selection & Acquisitions (OSA), in January.
FCPS has 182 schools and ranks 12th nationally by enrollment with over 166,000 students. FCPS services include 15 special education centers, 34 alternative high schools, and four alternative learning centers. The school system has an operating budget of $1.8 billion.
FCPS will implement Online Selection & Acquisitions to replace its aging LIM System. Online Selection & Acquisitions is a Web-based, vendor neutral material management tool that will administer the entire acquisitions process – selection, purchasing, receiving, invoice management, and fund accounting. OSA can be used as a stand-alone acquisitions module with any integrated library system.
OSA will streamline the receiving process for FCPS by transforming a paper intensive process into a paperless one.
FCPS school librarians will be able to search multiple vendors' databases and have access to rich content, including reviews from Library Journal, School Library Journal, ALA CHOICE and Booklist, jacket art, annotations, and tables of contents. The librarians will place orders electronically with vendors and receive order confirmations. Before submitting orders, the school librarians will be able to review their funds, giving them control over their spending. Electronic invoicing will enable FCPS to also improve its invoice approval process.
