POMONA, CA. — August 3, 2004— Auto-Graphics, Inc. (OTCBB: AUGRE) proudly announces that the Kansas State Library (KSL) has once again chosen the Company's Resource-Sharing module (ILL) and has expanded its contract by adding the AGent Portal module for federated searching. Library staff and patrons can now seamlessly access Kansas' 28 databases, the Kansas Library Catalog and Serials Database, and other statewide resources through a single entry and search screen. Databases can also be obtained via Z39.50 as “Z-targets” for searching local OPAC systems. Furthermore, AGent's ISO functionality has been incorporated to increase the state's capability for a virtual resource-sharing system. Disparate systems can now communicate instantly without additional hardware and/or software purchases.
The Resource-Sharing Module is fully ISO/ILL compliant and supports the Interlibrary Loan Protocol Implementors Group (IPIG) profile, enabling users to interact with numerous third party ISO/ILL systems. The AGent Portal allows users to simultaneously search a wide variety of disparate databases such as full-text repositories, the Web, local bibliographic catalogs, and private resources through a single search interface. Search results are viewed in their native screen formats to not only ensure copyright compliance, but also allow the user full access to database content and functionality. Other available AGent modules include Authentication, Cataloging, Statistics, and Library Automation. All AGent modules are 100% Web-based with an unparalleled easy-to-use interface for staff and library patrons.
“Through the years, AGent has continuously met all of our requirements for a state-of the-art library system. We look forward to adding the AGent Portal's capability to efficiently and effectively search all statewide resources from a single search screen,” said Jeff Hixon, Director of the Library Information Technology Division at Kansas State Library.
“We are pleased that KSL has continued its valuable partnership with Auto-Graphics and are eager to have the opportunity to build on this solid foundation as we continue to expand our patron-centric services to the library community. With the purchase of the AGent Portal module, KSL has also opened the door for individual libraries in Kansas to purchase local versions of AGent. Through this program, libraries will have the opportunity to transform their existing websites into library portals, add local databases to their single search interface, and provide remote patron access from work or home, thereby enhancing their electronic service offerings to their patrons,” stated Albert Flores, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Auto-Graphics.
