Abstract: Continuing a commitment to international diversification of library software systems, Endeavor Information Systems announced the formation of an Endeavor Australasian Library Advisory Board to guide the development and future direction of Endeavor’s library solutions.

DES PLAINES, ILLINOIS, USA – June 16, 2004: Continuing a commitment to international diversification of library software systems, Endeavor Information Systems announced today the formation of an Endeavor Australasian Library Advisory Board (EALAB) to guide the development and future direction of Endeavor's library solutions.

Complementing the December 2003 announcement of Endeavor's European Advisory Board, the EALAB group will provide input for country and region-specific features that assure global flexibility in the Voyager integrated library management system, the ENCompass system for managing, searching and linking collections and the LinkFinderPlus OpenURL-enabled link resolver. The Board's feedback aligns Endeavor's software development with the changes in local customs and practices, regional document delivery organizations, publishers and service providers, as well as valuable feedback on the local nature of user demands.

Endeavor currently works with more than 130 libraries in Australia, Singapore and New Zealand, including the national libraries of Australia and New Zealand, multiple consortiums, corporate libraries and academic libraries of all sizes.

The EALAB members represent the libraries of distinct institutions, including:

  • Macquarie University, Sydney, NSW, Australia
  • Manukau Institute of Technology, Manuaku City, Auckland, New Zealand
  • National Library of Australia, Canberra, ACT, Australia
  • University of Auckland, Auckland, New Zealand
  • University of Otago, Dunedin, New Zealand
  • University of Western Sydney, Sydney, NSW, Australia

"Endeavor is very pleased to collaborate with our talented and active customers in order to gather the most complete and accurate information possible about local conventions and precedents,” said Susie Thorpe, Endeavor Australasian Support Manager. “With the advisement of the EALAB, Endeavor can fully validate and strategize needs in our Southern hemisphere in order to develop software and service solutions that are best adapted to the needs of our libraries in Australasia."

“Only by directly interacting with our worldwide library customers can Endeavor continue to develop a strategic direction that includes the development of features and flexibility for local traditions and emerging needs,” said Marianne Parkhill, Vice-President of Marketing. “Today, Endeavor's library software systems are designed to be well-equipped to serve the needs of libraries outside of North America, but Endeavor continues to commit to the development of new solutions for the changing demands of our growing multi-national library community.”
