WOBURN, MA -- Inmagic, Inc., a global provider of content and information management solutions, today announces the release of Inmagic Genie – a Web-based solution designed to meet the needs of the expanding corporate information center. While Genie builds on the popular DB/Text for Libraries, Inmagic has incorporated new features and completely replaced the backend with Inmagic Content Server. Based on Microsoft SQL Server, Inmagic Genie leverages Microsoft .NET technologies to provide a robust Web environment supporting the more sophisticated library staff functions as well as end-user capabilities.

Demand for accessibility to both internal and external information has required that the information center provide systems with the flexibility to manage a wide variety of content both structured and unstructured and make self-sufficiency a priority. With the flexibility of Inmagic Genie, library staff have the ability to manage internal content while also performing back-office tasks including; catalog and circulation capabilities; add new materials to the library catalog; edit existing materials; perform check in, check out, and borrower maintenance—all directly from their Internet browser. As part of the Inmagic Content Management Solutions family, Genie can integrate and interoperate within the enterprise IT infrastructure.

“Regular use of the Web as a research tool has permanently changed the way in which most business users interact with information. Traditional library management systems typically cannot handle the unstructured nature of internal content, often increasing rather than reducing the number of content silos” said Phillip L. Green, president, Inmagic Inc. “Inmagic Genie empowers the information professional with the tools to manage and make accessible a wide variety of content across the enterprise. Genie reinforces Inmagic’s move forward to provide our customers with information management applications that are cost-effective, flexible, and easy to deploy. And, because Inmagic Genie is built on our Content Server platform, organizations can expand to manage information resources well beyond those within the library, creating true content management solutions.”
