Abstract: Sirsi Corporation announced that Bibliotheca RFID Library Systems is the newest software vendor to complete the Sirsi SIP2 Certification Program. BiblioChip RFID Library Media Management and Security System will seamlessly integrate with the Sirsi patron database for both authentication and account information.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala.— March 29, 2004 — Sirsi Corporation, celebrating 25 years of delivering technology "firsts" to the library community, announced today that Bibliotheca RFID Library Systems is the newest software vendor to complete the Sirsi SIP2 Certification Program. BiblioChipTM RFID Library Media Management and Security System will seamlessly integrate with the Sirsi patron database for both authentication and account information. "We are very pleased to be certified by Sirsi," said Emmett Erwin, Bibliotheca president and chief executive officer. "With our cutting-edge RFID technology and advanced software, our engineers have developed a system that meets the unique needs of today's libraries. Sirsi's SIP2 Certification Program is an excellent resource for libraries seeking confidence when choosing third-party vendors."

BiblioChip RFID Library Media Management and Security System was developed to address a library's specific needs — media management and security. "It is set up in a modular way. It can be linked to existing library circulation systems. The modules work independently from each other and can be added one by one, according to the requirements of the library," said Erwin. "Plus, Bibliotheca has cut conversion time to 22 seconds per item and it can be done on-the-fly, increasing productivity of librarians by virtually eliminating conversion time with BiblioChip."

Sirsi SIP2 Certification Program, an original certification program for the standard interchange protocol, version 2 (SIP2), enables third-party vendors to ensure that their SIP2-compliant products integrate seamlessly with Sirsi systems. Once a third-party product is Sirsi SIP2-Certified, Sirsi users will know that they can take advantage of best-of-breed, SIP2-compliant products in their Sirsi environment. In addition to vendors that are taking part in Sirsi's SIP2 Certification Program, Sirsi also has a range of Sirsi Technology Partners who also provide SIP2-compliant products that integrate with Sirsi systems. Bibliotheca RFID Library Systems will be demonstrating products at the Sirsi SuperConference, to be held April 18-21 in St. Louis for Sirsi clients worldwide. For more information about Sirsi SuperConference visit www.superconference.info.
