DES PLAINES, ILLINOIS, Mar. 10, 2004: Endeavor Information Systems announced today the Great Library of the Law Society of Upper Canada, Toronto, Ontario, Canada selected the Voyager integrated library management system, the ENCompass for Resource Access system for providing access to e-resources and the ENCompass for Digital Collections system for managing and searching digital objects.
A non-lending library, with the exception of items loaned for use in court proceedings, the Great Library holds over 125,000 volumes to serve the legal research and information needs of Law Society members with a collection of materials necessary to the practice of law. Founded in 1828, the Great Library's collections document the growth of the legal system in Canada and other common law countries.
In addition, numerous electronic resources provide instant access to the most recent information available. The Great Library will employ ENCompass to manage borne digital resources as well as items that the library is digitizing for future research needs.
“The Great Library of the Law Society of Upper Canada is delighted about the purchase of a new integrated library system for our library. After a year of identifying our requirements, we finally selected the Endeavor Information Systems as the one that most closely meets our needs,” said Janine Miller, Director of the Libraries for the Law Society of Upper Canada.
“We are delighted that we will be working with Endeavor on the installation of both the Voyager and ENCompass components of their system and the exciting opportunities that this new ILS will allow us to develop for the Great Library,” Miller said. “We look forward to our ongoing relationship with Endeavor who have been most supportive as we made our assessment and decision.”
“With the need to deliver impeccable services to a demanding constituency, the Great Library recognized Endeavor's advanced technology solutions for their quality, consistency and dependability,” said Roland Dietz, Endeavor President and CEO. “Building on the technological advantages found in the ideal combination of Voyager and ENCompass, the Great Library can now deliver print and electronic resources through accessible and efficient library software systems.”
