Abstract: VTRAX, a division of VTLS Inc., announced that Bartow County Public Library has selected FASTRAC, a second-generation asset management system based upon radio frequency identification technology.

Blacksburg, VA -- VTRAX, a division of VTLS Inc., is pleased to announce today that Bartow County Public Library has selected FASTRAC, a second-generation asset management system based upon radio frequency identification technology (RFID).

The FASTRAC system will enable the Bartow County Public Library to provide enhanced circulation services to patrons and staff alike. These services include such tasks as multiple-item processing for checkout, check-in, renewal functions, as well as patron self-check out. At the same time, FASTRAC provides for rapid, uninterrupted security for all library materials. Collection management is faster and more accurate and library staff spends less time with repetitive, clerical tasks. FASTRAC can scan the collection of a typical library in less than a day and supports both batch and real-time inventory control.

Bartow County Public Library, headquartered in Cartersville, Georgia selected the FASTRAC system as part of an expansion and renovation project for their main library, which is expected to be completed in the spring of 2005. When completed the library will house a collection of over 120,000 volumes. The library system also includes Adairsville Public Library and Emmie Nelson Library.

In addition to deploying advanced second generation FASTRAC technology, Bartow County Public Library will also be one of the first public libraries to make use of RFID-equipped curbside return chutes. Just like exterior wall-mounted or interior book returns the new Kingsley units will incorporate FASTRAC components and will enable the library to remotely check-in and secure returning materials. Bartow County Public Library will become the first VTRAX customer to implement FASTRAC with the Sirsi ILS system.

“Bartow County joins a growing number of customers embracing our FASTRAC RFID solution,” said Carl Grant, President of VTLS Inc. “We're listening carefully to our customers needs and leveraging technology to deliver the fastest and most efficient implementation of RFID on the market today regardless of your current ILS”
