DES PLAINES, ILLINOIS, Dec. 3, 2003: Endeavor Information Systems today announced the development of a European Advisory Board to provide input for country and continent-specific requirements for Endeavor's advanced technology library systems. The charter members of this Board represent many roles in libraries.
Endeavor's work with diverse libraries around the world includes the development of country and region-specific features to ensure interaction with local customs and practices, document delivery organizations, publishers and user trends. With guidance from global user groups, beginning with this European Advisory Board, Endeavor will ensure diverse needs are addressed in the future development of the Voyager integrated library management system, the ENCompass system for managing, searching and linking collections, and the LinkFinderPlus OpenURL-enabled link resolver.
The members represent diverse institutions, including:
- LIBRIS, the Royal Library of Sweden (Sweden)
- National Library of Finland (Finland)
- University of Edinburgh (Scotland)
- University of Kent, Canterbury (England)
- University of Hertfordshire (England)
- University of Wales-Cardiff (Wales)
Endeavor systems are currently selected by academic and research libraries in eight European countries.
“Endeavor aims to ensure Voyager, ENCompass, LinkFinderPlus and all of our advanced library technologies are accurately developed with input from our customers around the world,” said Marianne Parkhill, Endeavor Vice-President of Marketing. “With the valuable day-to-day experience and combined input of these librarians and technical staff, Endeavor's customers can be reassured that our software systems match the changing needs of libraries worldwide.”
