Abstract: Sirsi Corporation announced that the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County has selected the Sirsi suite of products and services.

St. Louis-September 29, 2003-Sirsi Corporation, the leader in new-name sales of library technology around the world*, announced today that the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County has selected the Sirsi suite of products and services to fulfill its mission to improve the library experience for everyone, end users and library staff alike. "While celebrating the library's 150th anniversary this year, it is natural to reflect on where we have been and where we are going," said Anne Herbert, the library's director of Information Systems. "Now, we will provide our community with easier-than-ever access to the library's collection and make the library experience more enjoyable for our end-users. The technology we are investing in, especially Sirsi Rooms(tm), will serve the library today and well into the future. Simply put: Sirsi technologies will allow us to serve more end-users more efficiently and effectively - while providing a higher level of service."

Cincinnati and Hamilton County's suite of Sirsi products includes the Unicorn Library Management System; WorkFlows staff client interface; iBistro e-Library solution with DataStream enriched content; Sirsi Voice Automation (SVA) for providing telephone-based end-user services; Unicorn Application Program Interfaces (APIs) that enables users to simply and easily customize the Unicorn system to meet unique needs; the Sirsi Rooms Context Management Solutions and a host of technology-related services. "Each of our 41 branches and the Main Library is special to the communities they serve; our community supports the library," said Herbert. "Surveys show that our end-users are pleased with our staff and the personal services they receive. And now, we will be able to provide even more services for the people of Cincinnati and Hamilton County. We're very excited about beginning work on creating our Sirsi Rooms collection and implementing the Unicorn system."

Sirsi Rooms is a revolutionary new way to create and present focused, dynamic electronic collections of the best information available - on any subject, from virtually any source. "Sirsi Rooms has an engaging interface, is more effective than our previous efforts to keep Web and other resources updated for our end-users, and saves staff time by maintaining plug-ins in the ever-changing Web environment," said Herbert. "We expect to use pre-made Rooms from Sirsi and to build our own Rooms to reflect local interests. Sirsi Rooms offers more than what we could create on our own, with less burden on staff time and more freedom to focus on developing our Rooms collection."

"Naturally we are delighted with the news that Sirsi had been selected by Cincinnati and Hamilton County. What makes this partnership even more exciting for us is the way that Cincinnati and Hamilton County has embraced Sirsi Rooms" said Andrew Morrice, Sirsi's Vice President of sales & marketing and international operations. "We are looking forward to providing the enabling technologies that will empower the library to deliver services that will truly delight its user community."
