San Diego, CA, July 15, 2003, Endeavor Information Systems, a member of the WebCT PowerLinks Network, announced today at IMPACT 2003, the 5th Annual WebCT User Conference that it has created a PowerLink to WebCT's Vista academic enterprise system from the Course Content Integrator, an extension of the ENCompass system for managing, searching and linking institutional collections. WebCT PowerLinks™ provide a framework for institutions to customize their learning environment, integrate key campus technologies, and extend the WebCT platform with innovative applications to meet their specific needs. The combination of the ENCompass Course Content Integrator and WebCT Vista provides persistent methods of searching so instructors can confidently insert links to library-qualified resources. ENCompass will ensure content is available for long lengths of time, reducing the probability of broken links to content.
WebCT, provider of the most flexible and widely used higher education e-learning solutions, and Endeavor, creators of a complete line of library solutions for traditional and digital collections, recognize the importance of using the institution's expensive and highly qualified research materials. With this integration, Endeavor enables course creators to easily integrate the library's quality resources into their institution's chosen course management system where today's instructors and students interact daily. Institutions and libraries benefit with increased use of their investment in electronic database content. Institutions recognize this important integration as a method to leverage their investment in course management systems.
"Endeavor provides an open method of integration between the valuable information already purchased by libraries for institutional use and the course management systems where students spend much of their time," said Roland Dietz, Endeavor President and CEO. "The ENCompass Course Content Integrator is intelligent software that can 'talk' to vital systems such as the WebCT Vista academic enterprise system to ensure students and faculty can easily locate qualified research materials."
Carol Vallone, president and CEO of WebCT, said the integration is important for mutual customers. "We are happy to welcome Endeavor Information Systems to the WebCT PowerLinks Network," Vallone said. "The combination of our products will be of great benefit to institutions who are looking to integrate their library content into their course management system. We are looking forward to working with Endeavor in the future."
The Endeavor PowerLink for WebCT will be available on WebCT Vista 2.1.
