Minneapolis, MN – June 4, 2003 – Sagebrush Corporation today announced its new Sagebrush SIF Agent, the first library automation product of its kind to receive SIF-compliant certification. The Agent allows schools using Schools Interoperability Framework (SIF) to share student information from non-library applications with their Athena or Spectrum library automation system. Any additions and changes to student information made in other SIF compliant applications can be used to automatically update the library's patron records, eliminating the need to update patron data in multiple systems, saving library staff time.
“Sagebrush has been a leader within SIF since its inception and has played a key role in helping develop the initiative for schools,” said Jim Zicarelli, Sagebrush CEO. “The certified Sagebrush SIF Agent will allow more districts to fully utilize SIF technology, enabling schools to run more efficiently and freeing more time for educators to assist students.”
SIF is a K-12 technology initiative comprised of over 100 companies (including Sagebrush), school districts and regional organizations that are jointly building the set of rules and definitions needed to enable K-12 software applications to share student data quickly, dynamically and securely. The Sagebrush SIF Agent acts as a communications bridge between Spectrum or Athena library automation systems and the SIF Zone Integration Server (ZIS).
The Sagebrush SIF Agent has been successfully used in the SIF pilot site at Copperwood Elementary School in the Peoria Unified School District outside of Phoenix, Arizona.
