Huntsville, Alabama May 5, 2003 Sirsi Corporation, the leader in new-name sales of technology for libraries around the world*, announced today the first SIP2-compliant software vendor to complete the Sirsi SIP2 Certification Program. Pharos Systems, the leading output and PC management vendor, has certified that its entire product suite Uniprint, SignUp Vx2, and Off-The-Glass will integrate seamlessly with the Sirsi patron database for authentication and account information. Pharos will receive information such as patron status, valid patron, and valid patron password information to accept or decline a user's logon and can optionally use all 14 flags within the patron status data to determine information like charge privileges, renewal privileges, excessive outstanding fines, or too many items overdue. This information is used to construct and enforce policies for public access computers, printing and copying management, and payment for printing and copying.

The Sirsi SIP2 Certification Program, an original certification program for the standard interchange protocol, version 2 (SIP2), enables third-party vendors to ensure that their SIP2-compliant products integrate seamlessly with Sirsi systems. Once a third-party product is Sirsi SIP2-Certified, Sirsi users will know that they can take advantage of best-of-breed, SIP2-compliant products in their Sirsi environment. In addition to vendors that are taking part in Sirsi's SIP2 Certification Program, Sirsi also has a range of Sirsi Technology Partners who also provide SIP2-compliant products that integrate with Sirsi systems. For a list of Sirsi Technology Partners, visit www.sirsi.com/Aboutsirsi/techpartners2.html.

"Sirsi is committed to providing our customers confidence and peace of mind in selecting and implementing the best third-party products in the industry," said Berit Nelson, Sirsi vice president of product management. "The Sirsi SIP2 Certification Program will help our clients realize their vision for the future, while capitalizing on the powerful third-party technologies and safeguarding the integrity of their systems. We are delighted to announce Pharos Systems as the first SIP2-certified vendor."

"The Sirsi Certification program is a great service to the library market. It ensures our customers that the solutions we provide have been demonstrated to work seamlessly with their Sirsi Library Management System. This gives them the confidence to make buying decisions sooner since they know the solutions will work together," said Tom Cody, Pharos Systems director of business development.

Sirsi evaluates third-party vendors' SIP2-compliant products in a standardized test environment. After testing, Sirsi SIP2-Certified vendors are issued a certificate guaranteeing compatibility of their products with existing Sirsi products. "We are pleased to meet a need that has been expressed to us by our customers," said Nelson. "Sirsi SIP2 Certification allows us to work with other vendors to meet the new technology demands of today's libraries and their users." Third-party vendors interested in SIP2 certification of their products with Sirsi systems can contact SIP2@sirsi.com.
