PROVO, Utah - May 2, 2003 - Dynix announced today the appointment of Henry "Ric" Rodriguez as chief technology officer and senior vice president of engineering, effective May 5. Rodriguez, who has more than 23 years of experience in software engineering, strategic development, and product management in the networking, Internet, and communications industries, replaces Julian Critchfield, who became Dynix chief operating officer in early April.

"Ric has a depth of technical understanding of new technologies that aligns perfectly with our strategic vision, including support for Java, J2EE, XML, Web Services, LDAP, and other important technologies," said Dynix President and CEO Jack Blount. "He has a proven record of shipping quality products on schedule and will be a tremendous asset to the library market as Dynix continues to execute on strategic development plans to dramatically enhance and expand the very definition of Integrated Library System."

Rodriguez has held a variety of senior leadership positions in technology development, including posts at Exchange Point as chief technical officer, at Xtra-Online as vice president of research and development/operations, at Borealis Technology as vice president of research and development/chief architect, and at Seagate Software as vice president of research and development/chief architect.

Most recently, Rodriguez served as senior vice president of engineering at Raindance Communications, a leading provider of enterprise collaboration solutions. There, he was responsible for the development of Web-based communication services that ran in an ASP environment and required 24/7 availability with virtually no downtime. Through his efforts, the company was able to deliver a very high degree of reliability, reaching 99.995 percent uptime. Concurrently, he served as chief technical officer at Contigo Software.

Additionally, Rodriguez spent two years as vice president of development for MobileWare and four years as director of strategic relations for Novell. He also worked as director of software engineering for Mountain Network Solutions and spent five years as director of research and development for Genesis Business Systems. In 1979, he began his technology career in the Army Air Force Exchange as manager of UA7/System development, working with top secret security clearance.

"I am pleased with this opportunity to join the Dynix team and apply my technology experience in a new environment," Rodriguez said. "Dynix has already implemented many new technologies that will change the face of library software, and I am excited to join in that process."
