Abstract: Dynix announced that it has entered a product development and technology-sharing partnership with YBP Library Services that will streamline the acquisition process for joint customers using the Horizon Information Management System.

PROVO, Utah – April 10, 2003 – Dynix announced today that it has entered a product development and technology-sharing partnership with YBP Library Services that will streamline the acquisition process for joint customers using the Horizon Information Management System.

Under the partnership, YBP customers using Horizon will be able to place EDIFACT orders directly from the acquisitions module of their Horizon system. This capability has already been successfully tested and is in use by several libraries around the world, including Asbury Theological Seminary (Kentucky, USA), McMaster University (Ontario, Canada), and the University of Canterbury (New Zealand).

In the coming months, Dynix and YBP will be testing several new services for joint customers, including EDIFACT invoicing from YBP through the Horizon Information Management System. As well, Dynix and YBP are working to streamline acquisition workflows through the use of local data embedded in MARC records. For example, testing will soon be underway to use MARC data in the automatic creation of Horizon records for orders placed using YBP's GOBI system, the world's first Web-based bibliographic information database.

“Our work with Dynix will allow our mutual customers to enjoy a more seamless workflow,” said Ann-Marie Breaux, system vendor liaison at YBP. “We are excited to be working with Dynix to increase staff efficiency for the customers we share.”

“Our partnership with YBP is aimed at helping Dynix customers achieve additional functionality using the Horizon Information Management System,” said Dynix President and CEO Jack Blount. “We are further automating the acquisition process for our academic libraries and all the joint customers we share with YBP, one of the industry's leading collection management services.”
