DES PLAINES, ILLINOIS, April 3, 2003: Endeavor Information Systems today announced expansion of the company's Product Management and Marketing Division with promotions and new additions to the company. The staff appointments underscore Endeavor's commitments to advanced software systems, clear communication with libraries and continuing applications of advanced technology solutions.
Marianne Parkhill was promoted to Vice President of Marketing. Previously Endeavor's Director of Product Management, Parkhill brings focus to Endeavor's product planning and customer satisfaction. She was formerly the Director of Product Management at Walker Interactive Systems, Inc., a Chicago-based financial e-business software developer. Parkhill contributes experience in designing product releases geared specifically to customer needs and requests plus an extensive background in product strategy and positioning.
Shelley Hostetler was named Product Manager for the Voyager integrated library management system. With Endeavor since 1999, Hostetler was most recently Library Support Team Lead in the Customer Services Division. She has been a well-received presenter at Endeavor's Annual and Regional User Group meetings and has been active in the company's customer communications strategies. Hostetler is continually recognized for consulting with Voyager libraries to design strategic workflow strategies for their current library needs. Her experience includes six years in advancing positions at the Morris Library of Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.
Harry Samuels was named Product Manager for the LinkFinderPlus comprehensive linking system. Previously Endeavor Digital Library Projects Manager, Samuels is also a member of the NISO OpenURL Committee. He has published a series of white papers covering topics including open linking and the OpenURL proposed standard and multi-protocol searching. Samuels came to Endeavor in 2000 from Northwestern University, where he was Assistant University Librarian for Information Technology and chair of the CIC (Big 10 Universities) Library Automation Directors Committee.
Mike Visser joined Endeavor as Product Manager for the ScienceServer turn-key solution for the management and delivery of local electronic journals for individual institutions. He previously worked with library vendors as an Executive Producer at Plumb Design, New York City, a web design firm with several clients in electronic publishing. Prior to that role, Visser held several progressive positions at the New York Public Library.
Sara Randall remains in her role as Manager, Digital Library Product Management, overseeing the product strategy of the ENCompass digital library management system. Randall is well known from her prior library experience as well as her active role as presenter, panelist and moderator at library industry conferences. She is the former Director of Library Systems for the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, former Executive Director of the Pennsylvania Academic Library Consortium, Inc. (PALCI), and former Head of Systems at Loyola University, Chicago. She was the 2000 President of the Library and Information Technology Association (LITA). Randall has been with Endeavor since 2000.
Penny Emke remains Endeavor's Marketing Communication Manager, overseeing the delivery of product and company public relations and marketing content. Building on her background in marketing and prior experience in academic and public libraries, Emke has held a variety of Marketing Division roles at Endeavor since 1999.
