Abstract: Dynix announced the launch of Dynix Institute, a comprehensive family of programs and services that establish ongoing forums for continuing education and professional development within the library community.

PROVO, Utah – January 24, 2003 – Dynix, the world's leading provider of library automation technologies, solutions, and services, announced today the launch of Dynix Institute, a comprehensive family of programs and services that establish ongoing forums for continuing education and professional development within the library community.

Initially, the Dynix Institute consists of three venues: the Dynix Web Seminar Series, an ongoing program of biweekly Web conferencing seminars featuring leaders in both librarianship and technology; Dynix Upstream, an annual professional development conference; and the Dynix Pulse, a biweekly e-newsletter that features interviews with industry thought leaders and provides news on Dynix Institute events.

“As a leader in library technology solutions, we feel a responsibility to support the growth of knowledge and understanding of the library community, helping librarians handle today's major challenges and plan for future growth,” said Dynix President and CEO Jack Blount. “With the Dynix Institute, we're taking our role as an advocate in the library community seriously by creating opportunities through which librarians and leaders in librarianship and technology will collaborate on important issues facing libraries.”

The Dynix Web Seminar Series, free to all participants, will present compelling speakers who will share their expertise and open discussion around current topics important to librarians. The first of the series is scheduled for February 19 featuring John Yokley, president and CEO of Progressive Technology Federal Systems, speaking on the topic of creating digital libraries. Participants can register by visiting www.dynixinstitute.com.

In an effort to help mentor tomorrow's library leaders in an atmosphere of learning and sharing, the Dynix Institute's annual professional development conference, Dynix Upstream, will debut in September 2003. As they become available, further details regarding the inaugural event will be posted on the Dynix Institute Web site.

The first issue of the Dynix Pulse, the biweekly Dynix Institute e-newsletter, will be issued in February. In addition to reporting on both past and upcoming Dynix Institute events, each edition of the newsletter will feature an interview with a library thought leader or technology expert.

“Our business can be a powerful force helping to shape the ongoing role of libraries in today's world,” said Gretchen Freeman, Dynix vice president of library strategy. “It's not enough for us to deliver the best information management system on the market; we must also demonstrate leadership in the library community and advocacy on behalf of the libraries we serve.
