PROVO, Utah January 13, 2003 epixtech announced today the appointment of Petros Demetriou as vice president of sales for the Asia Pacific region, effective immediately. In his new role, Demetriou will oversee new sales and customer sales efforts for epixtech in Australasia and the Pacific Rim.
Demetriou, who is leaving a post at Innovative Interfaces, has more than five years' experience as a sales executive and has spent twelve years in the library industry. Arriving at Innovative in 1997, Demetriou worked most recently as director of sales for the Asia Pacific region. Prior to his arrival there, he held positions at SLS (Information Systems) Ltd., Headland Systems, and MPSI Systems Inc.
Demetriou has an outstanding record for expanding and opening up new markets in four continents, including extensive work in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia, South Korea, the Philippines, and Australia.
Demetriou's appointment follows a decision made by epixtech President and CEO Jack Blount to divide the company's sales focus into three regions: the Americas; Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA); and Asia Pacific. With vice presidents of sales already appointed for the Americas and EMEA, Demetriou's arrival rounds out epixtech's expanded executive team, reshaped in recent months to provide leadership in core areas of customer service.
"We are pleased to have Petros on board and actively involved in the future of epixtech in Asia Pacific," Blount said. "His experience and expertise will prove to be an invaluable service to both customers and future customers in the region. He is an established global operator, and well known throughout the region's libraries."
"I am excited to be joining epixtech at this time and am pleased to be continuing my service to libraries in Asia Pacific. I look forward to strengthening relationships with our existing customers as well as forging new ones," Demetriou said. "I am particularly delighted with the opportunity to bring a strong sales focus for the region at a high level within the company. This dedicated position for Asia Pacific is unique amongst library system vendors, and further demonstrates epixtech's outstanding level of commitment to this market and the industry as a whole."
In addition to his experience in libraries, Demetriou comes from a software engineering background and has extensive experience in project management and business process re-engineering roles.
