Emeryville, CA--Innovative Interfaces, a leader in library technology, announced that the Joint Educational Consortiuman alliance between Henderson State University and Ouachita Baptist University has chosen Millennium as the new library system for the two schools. Millennium will replace their shared Sirsi system.
"We looked at four vendors and decided that the best overall package was from Innovative. The biggest advantage of moving from a character-based system is that Innovative's fourth-generation system will give us a leg up on the future. We're looking for Web access and one-stop shopping for our students and facultywe think we have it," said Ray Granade, Director of Library Services at Ouachita Baptist University.
Implementation of Millennium will significantly improve the level of services the two libraries can provide to their ten thousand patrons. It will enable students and faculty to browse the libraries' combined collection of 413,000 items online, link directly to Web sites that offer information on subject searches, and be notified by email when new materials enter the catalog.
"We were impressed with the functionality and overall user friendliness of Innovative's Millennium system," said Robert Yehl, Director of Learning Resources at Henderson State University. "We are also enthusiastic about the possibilities of future cooperation with other libraries in Arkansas that are also Innovative customers."
The Joint Educational Consortium's migration to Millennium will make this the twenty-fifth installation in the state of Arkansas. Innovative systems are used by academic, public, medical, law, and school libraries throughout Arkansas, including: Arkansas Supreme Court, Central Arkansas Library System, Hendrix College, Pulaski County Special School District, Phillips County Community College, the University of Arkansas System libraries at Fayetteville, Little Rock, Fort Smith, Monticello, and the medical sciences and law campuses, as well as the public libraries at Elkins, Fayetteville, Greenland, Lincoln, Prairie Grove, Rogers, West Fork, Winslow, and Washington County.
