Ex Libris is pleased to announce the recent selection of SFX by the State University of New York (SUNY) as part of the SUNYConnect initiative. SUNYConnect will integrate SUNY libraries with the Ex Libris Aleph 500 library management system, establish a core set of electronic resources, and utilize SFX for linking online resources. The SUNY system is comprised of 64 campuses across New York with a student population of approximately 388,000.
Jenny Walker, Director of Sales and Marketing, Information Services Division, at Ex Libris said “In SUNY's selection of SFX we see further validation of SFX as the linking solution for consortium. Statewide resources can be administered centrally with local libraries managing their own resources, and defining the logic for the display of services.”
The initial implementation of SFX gets underway later this month at 3 libraries – SUNY Binghamton, SUNY Fredonia and SUNY Cobleskill. The SUNY libraries will share a server to be hosted at the Information Technology Exchange Center located at the SUNY College at Buffalo.“
SUNYConnect utilizes new technology within the University to strengthen and improve access to library resources for all SUNY students and faculty”, said State University Provost Peter D. Salins. “The ability to implement library technology on shared servers allows us to leverage resources to our best advantage.”
