Thirty Colleges in Mexico Implement Innovative’s Millennium

Emeryville, CA—Innovative Interfaces announced that the Instituto Tecnólogico de Monterrey in Monterrey, Mexico, will expand its Millennium system to include 29 additional colleges in 26 different cities in Mexico.

"We chose Millennium for all the Institutes of Technology because we wanted to have a central OPAC for the 30 campuses instead of the five separate systems we currently have. After the evaluation process, we decided Millennium was the best option as it was the most complete, flexible, and advanced system," said Miguel Ángel Arreola, Library Systems Director at the Instituto Tecnólogico de Monterrey. "The Instituto Tecnólogico de Monterrey has been with Innovative since 1994 and with great success. In the first three to four years, we improved our productivity ten-fold. With the implementation of Millennium, we believe our new affiliates can achieve this in an even shorter period."

"In the past year, Innovative has continued to enjoy success in the Spanish-language market, signing contracts with over 45 academic libraries. We look forward to working with the Institutes of Technology and welcome the opportunity to partner with such a prestigious network of libraries," said Jerry Kline, Innovative’s President and CEO.

The Institutes of Technology libraries are arranged into four zones; each of the four zones will be migrating to Millennium from a separate SIRSI system. The Institutes of Technology cover almost all of Mexico and extend education services to other countries in Latin America by means of a "virtual university." At present, Instituto Tecnólogico de Monterrey serves 92,000 students. The central library on the Monterrey campus opened in 1968. It has more than 310,000 volumes and 3,200 serials.
