Emeryville, CA—Innovative Interfaces, a leader in information technology for libraries, is pleased to announce that the University of Valladolid in Valladolid, Spain has chosen the Millennium integrated library system to replace its existing DOBIS/LIBIS system which was installed in 1988.

Soledad Carnicer Arribas, Library Director at the university, said, "We chose Millennium because the system is based on next-generation computing, combining Javaä technology with a powerful client/server architecture. In addition to a graphic interface with rich functionality, Millennium incorporates a wide variety of library functions that suits the specific needs of the University of Valladolid."

He continued, "Also key to our decision was the fact that Millennium has also been chosen by three of the other university libraries of Castilla and León: Salamanca, Burgos, and León, which, in the future, will become the Consortium of University Libraries of Castilla and León."

Founded in the 13th century, the University of Valladolid serves approximately 30,000 students. The library’s collection consists of more than 600,000 books (with an emphasis on old and rare volumes), 12,000 periodicals titles, and 33,000 non-library documents.
