Openly to provide commercial support for Jake: Openly Jake enables customization of open-source serials reference and linking tool

Bloomfield, New Jersey - January 31, 2001 - Openly Informatics, Inc. ( today announced its suite of support services and add-ons for Jake, the internet's leading open-source reference and linking tool for serials.

Openly Jake (, a fully customizable, high-performance, international-ready version of the Jake system, makes it easy for libraries to use Jake to connect users with the journals that they hold.

Openly Jake is the first version of the Jake system for which commercial support is available. Libraries can now run their own, customized versions of Jake without having specialized technical expertise. Openly Jake's solid technical base and free open-source licensing will facilitate the addition of new features.

Together with New Zealand's, Openly has developed a linking data plug-in for Jake. The Link.Openly/Genamics database adds 3000 journal descriptions and links to Jake. The database is expected to grow to 10000 records by year's end, and is available for immediate licensing.
