Pigasus Software, Inc. is pleased to announce that the University of California at Los Angeles has chosen Wings as its document delivery request processing system.
Wings is a web-based ILL request processing package that facilitates the communication of ILL and document delivery requests and related messages between users and libraries, and between libraries and other libraries or document suppliers.
Wings supports a variety of communications protocols used in the ILL community including ISO 10160/10161 and ERP (the Extended Request Protocol). In addition, Wings can communicate with proprietary systems such as Aviso.
UCLA will use Wings for document delivery to patrons within the UCLA system and to other local institutions of higher education. Patrons served by the UCLA system include faculty, students and several hospitals. UCLA has integrated Wings with their upcoming web-based OPAC and with the Melvyl Request system.
Other Pigasus Software customers include Relais International.
Dr. Stephen Schwartz, Head of Library Information Systems Development, UCLA, said, "Wings is flexible and works well for our document delivery service, Orion Express. We were particularly pleased that Pigasus Software was able to integrate Wings with Melvyl Request, a mainframe request system heavily used throughout the University of California."
Terry Ryan, Associate University Librarian for Systems, UCLA, said "We have found Pigasus Software easy to work with and responsive to our needs."
Candy Bogar, President of Pigasus Software, said, "We are delighted that UCLA, a leading provider of document delivery and ILL services, has chosen to install our request processing product. We found that integrating Wings with other software at UCLA was a straightforward matter. Contributing to the superior levels of service for which UCLA is known is a pleasure."
