St. Louis, Missouri, USA -- November 29, 1995: Data Research Associates Inc. (DRA) and The Library Network (TLN), Michigan, jointly announced today that TLN has successfully upgraded to a Data Research System from its former Geac system.

Says Harry Courtright, TLN Director, "Our new DRA system will allow us to improve library service and offer new information services to our community. We are now better able to track use with up-to-the-minute information on a fast and reliable computer that also is user friendly." Courtright adds that Open DRA Net, DRA's unique collection of networking resources and services, also gives the library access to the Internet, plus a number of reference tools.

A celebratory "Hollywood Opening" in October -- attended by none other than Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe and Groucho Marx -- commemorated the changeover, which improves services for the 55 public libraries in Michigan counties Wayne, Oakland, Livingston and Washtenaw. At the event, the new Data Research System was brought on line accompanied by music, and showers of confetti and streamers.

The Library Network is the largest library cooperative in Michigan, with more than 80 member agencies serving 2.4 million Michigan residents.
