St. Louis, Missouri, February 1, 1995 -- Data Research Associates, Inc. (NASDAQ: DRAI) announced today that earnings per share for its first quarter of fiscal 1995, which ended December 31, 1994, were 5 cents, compared with 3 cents in the same period in fiscal 1994. Revenues for the first quarter of fiscal 1994 increased 54% to $7.0 million, compared to $4.6 million in the same period a year ago.

"Our first quarter is traditionally a slow period, and the fact that we showed improvement without having signed any large contracts during the period reflects our solid base of recurring revenues," said Mellinger.

Mellinger added that revenues had also been positively influenced by the purchase of the MultiLIS automation system, which was effective October 1, 1994. "The effect of the MultiLIS transaction on earnings for the quarter was roughly neutral, and we do not expect MultiLIS to contribute significantly to earnings during the current fiscal year," said Mellinger.
