March 5, 1999. The School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in London, Europe's leading and largest center of information, research and teaching on Asia and Africa, has selected Millennium from Innovative Interfaces to replace its LIBERTAS library management system. Implementation of the new system is due to begin in the spring with a live date scheduled for the summer of 1999.

Wallace Batchelor, SOAS' acting head librarian, said, "In seeking a replacement for LIBERTAS, SOAS Library was looking for an equally robust and reliable system, but one with the functionality to offer additional and improved services to our users. Millennium, with its excellent record in the UK, USA and Asia and a design that can support new developments, came top of our list."

"We are keen to start creating and downloading multi-script records in some of our major languages, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, and Korean, and Millennium's experience with CJK was a major attraction for us. We are also looking forward to using the Web OPAC and commencing the implementation program this spring," Batchelor added.
