May 21, 1999. Innovative Interfaces will install a Millennium library automation system at the Biblioteca Valenciana, the national library of the Valencian community. Biblioteca Valenciana's new Millennium system will be configured with the full complement of Millennium products, including the Web OPAC, Circulation, Cataloging, Acquisitions, and Serials modules.

The Biblioteca Valenciana, which is responsible for administering the bibliographic heritage of the region, is the technical and administrative center for the entire library network of Valencia. Staff and users alike will be able to take advantage of Valencia's new Millennium system in the new library, the refurbished monastery of San Miguel de los Reyes, a move that is being awaited with great anticipation.

With Millennium, the library will be able to offer Web access and services to the public in both Castilian Spanish and Valencian. Staff are looking forward to utilizing the full functionality of Millennium, in particular the advanced image management features that the system offers. The library will soon be able to scan images and texts and associate them completely with either new or existing bibliographic records; the library will retain complete control over the access and use of these electronic documents and images.
