Talis EDI Cataloguing Service extended

The Cataloguing Service which was officially launched last year has now been extended with new booksellers and Talis libraries joining the scheme at a rapid rate. The service has won enthusiastic acceptance by customers and further expansion is in the pipeline.

Apart from the original participants in the pilot service, there are now over twenty more libraries in various stages of preparation. From the original single supplier there are now more than a dozen booksellers signed up and pressing ahead with developments. These include Askews, Holt Jackson, Peters, Dawsons, John Smiths, Bfs, Woodfield & Stanley, BusMed, Coutts, Browns and Cypher. Close collaboration with the booksellers has been a feature of the project.

All categories of material are now covered by the Cataloguing Service, which is an extension to the Electronic Data Interchange range of services offered to Talis customers. The shelf-ready service offers increased efficiency of the cataloguing process for new titles, as electronic records are transmitted to the library at the same time as new stock is delivered.
