Sirsi installs two new systems

Huntsville, Alabama - Sirsi Corporation is pleased to announce that its library automation systems have been installed at the Whiting Public Library and the Naval Submarine Medical Research Laboratory Library.

The Unicorn Collection Management System is installed on an IBM RISC System/6000 Model 340 host computer at the Whiting Public Library. In addition to the bibliographic and inventory control module, the library has licensed the acquisitions, authority control, circulation, enhanced public access, and serials control modules. The Whiting Public Library serves over 10,000 patrons in Whiting, an industrial city in northwest Indiana. The library, a Carnegie building opened in 1905 and renovated in 1982, has an area of 17,000 square feet and houses a collection of approximately 104,000 items.

STILAS is installed on an IBM RISC System/6000 Model 220 host computer at the Naval Submarine Medical Research Laboratory Library, located in Groton, Connecticut, The library has licensed the acquisitions module, authority control module, bibliographic and inventory control module, circulation module, enhanced public access module, intelligent interface to DTIC-DROLS, multiuser gateway, arid serials control module. The Naval Submarine Medical Research Laboratory Library has a collection of 4,343 books, 5,000 reports, and 170 periodical titles. Major subjects areas include psychology, diving and hyperbaric medicine, and acoustic and vision research as it relates to the submarine environment. The system was purchased through GSA Contract GSOOK-94AGS-5695.
