Unicorn installed at Wheeling Jesuit College

Huntsville, Alabama - Sirsi Corporation is pleased to announce that its Unicorn Collection Management System is installed at Wheeling Jesuit College's Bishop Hodges Library.

Unicorn is installed on a SUN host computer. The library has licensed the academic reserves, acquisitions, authority control, bibliographic and inventory control, circulation, electronic mail, enhanced public access, materials booking, and serials control modules; enhanced researchers access; intelligent interface to dialog; internet navigator; multiuser gateway; reference database managers for Wilson and UMI; Unicorn GUI for Windows; and Vizion Z39.50 Windowing client.

Unicorn will be used to automate the collections of the library and two federally-funded initiatives, the National Technology Transfer Center (NTTC) and the Center for Educational Technology (CET). The NTTC facilitates technology transfer from federal laboratories to business and industry, and the CET develops curricula and programs for K-i 2 students to improve science and math skills and prepare students to participate in space technology. The main goal of automating with UNICORN is to provide the programs and the library with mutual access to all the collections of information available.

Eileen Carpino, Library Director, cites Unicorn's user-friendliness as the primary factor in choosing the system. "It is important for students and faculty to be able to access information simply and directly. Unicorn's uncomplicated approach to the online catalog will make it easy for our patrons to use the system."

Located in Wheeling, West Virginia, Wheeling Jesuit College is a coeducational, liberal arts college with approximately 1,500 students from over 20 states and 12 countries.
