Sirsi offers Information Desk

Huntsville, Alabama - Sirsi is pleased to announce that an online Information Desk is now offered as a fully-dynamic, integrated part of the Unicorn/STILAS enhanced public access module. Initially offered with Unicorn Version 6.0, released in Summer 1992, the Information Desk, which stores information in MARC format, is provided at no additional cost to new and existing patrons.

The Scarborough-Phillips Library at St. Edward's University in Austin, Texas, uses the Information Desk to post library hours, library services, library news, instructions on using the library, responses to patron suggestions, and lists of new books. Fran Ebbers, System Administrator, feels that the Information Desk allows patrons to be more self-sufficient. "Using the Information Desk, patrons can find answers to their own questions easily and quickly without having to locate a staff member for information. This is especially important for patrons who access the library remotely or after hours by dialing into Unicorn."
