Unicorn installed at Kilmarnock and Loudoun district libraries

Huntsville, Alabama - SIRSI Corporation is pleased to announce that its Unicorn Collection Management System is installed at the Kilmarnock and Loudoun District Libraries located in Scotland. The system was purchased through Sirsi Limited, Sirsi's British subsidiary.

Unicorn is installed on an IBM RISC System/6000 Model 360 host computer at the District's Dick Institute. The system is available to the District's Central Library, nine branch libraries, and mobile library service. The system supports a number of special services administered by the Libraries, including homebound reader services, local community information services, and circulating stock services. The system will make museum service records available, allowing staff and patrons to search museum records online.

Kilmarnock and Loudoun District Libraries serve almost 60,000 registered patrons in the town of Kilmarnock and a number of small towns, including Stewarton and Darvel, as well as a rural population. The Libraries process over 1,000,000 transactions a year and maintain a collection of 220,000 books, magazines, audio cassettes, compact discs, and videos.
