Press Release: SIRSI Corporation [March 21, 1994]

Z39.50-compatible server free of charge to Sirsi customers

Huntsville, Alabama - Sirsi Corporation is pleased to announce the release of ZSERVER, a Z39.50-compatible server used with SIRSI's Unicorn and STILAS information management systems.

Release of SIRSI's ZSERVER means that any Unicorn or STILAS site which authorizes access can now be queried by a Z39.50 client. ZSERVER is available for SCO UNIX, IBM RISC System/6000, Hewlett-Packard, DEC (MIPS-based), and Sun host computers.

ZSERVER software is being supplied to Sirsi customers as part of their software service agreement. 'We feel very strongly about the importance of incorporating standards such as Z39.50 into our systems. So, instead of charging our customers for Z39.50 compatibility, we are providing the ZSERVER software to them as a standard interlace to the catalog," commented SIRI
