Huntsville, Alabama - SIRSI Corporation is pleased to announce that its scientific and Technical information library automation system (STILAS) will be installed at the Strughold Aeromedical Library, Naval Undersea Museum Library, and Naval Postgraduate School.
STILAS will be installed on an IBM RISC System/6000 Model 360 host computer at the Strughold Aeromedical Library. The library has licensed the bibliographic and inventory control module, enhanced public access module, intelligent interface to DTIC DROLS, multiuser gateway, and serials control module. Located at Bmoks Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, Strughold is the largest Air Force medical library and serves the Armstrong Laboratory and other components of the Human Systems Center. The library has a collection of over 156,000 volumes and 158,000 technical reports in areas such as aerospace medicine, occupational and environmental health, astronautics, and military medicine. Strughold will use STILAS to download DTIC records, and the library will provide dial-in access to patrons.
The Naval Undersea Museum Library, located in Keyport, Washington, will run the STILAS bibliographic and inventory control and enhanced public access modules on an IBM 486 DX2 file server. The Library supports the Naval Undersea Museum, which has programs and exhibits in the areas of undersea technology, naval history, and the interlace between man and the marine environment. The Library will also serve as a reference and research library in areas of undersea technology such as submersibles, submarines, diving, remotely operated vehicles, underwater archeology, underwater warfare, and oceanography.
STILAS will be installed on an IBM RISC System/6000 Model 341 at the Naval Postgraduate School's Dudley Knox Library. In addition to the bibliographic and inventory control module, the library has licensed the authority control module, circulation module, enhanced public access module, enhanced researchers access, intelligent interface to DTIC DROLS, Internet Navigator, and Multiuser Gateway. Located in Monterey, California, the Naval Postgraduate School offers masters and doctoral programs in engineering. management, operations research, and national security affairs. The school has approximately 1700 students consisting of officers in the U.S. armed forces. The student body also includes over 300 officers in the armed forces of allied countries. STILAS will be used to provide control of over 80,000 technical reports at the Dudley Knox Library. STILAS will also be used to download and upload DTIC records.
