Huntsville, AL (July 18, 1997) - Sirsi Corporation has announced its best sales year ever for the year ending on June 30, 1997. During the prior twelve months, SIRSI sold 114 systems to new customers in North America alone, including the Enoch Pratt Free Library in Baltimore, Md., Rutgers—The State University of New Jersey, the State of North Carolina Supreme Court Library, and Dumbarton Oaks Trustees for Harvard University in Washington, D.C.
Total sales for the year increased approximately 30 percent over last year, according to Lamar Jackson, SIRSI's Director of Sales. "Sales were at record levels in several sectors: public, school, and special libraries. In addition, we saw continued strong growth in sales to academic libraries of all sizes," Jackson said. "We couldn't be more pleased. Libraries everywhere continue to recognize SIRSI's clear superiority in providing advanced, yet easy client/server solutions based on a progressive philosophy and unique vision of the future of library automation."
SIRSI also announced that its profitability has continued. "The company has had over fifty consecutive quarters of profitability, a solid track record that is certainly uncommon in this industry," reported Larry Smith, SIRSI's Chief Financial Officer. "Over twelve years without a single quarterly loss speaks volumes about SIRSI's financial strength and stability. This is primarily attributable to well-designed software which minimizes maintenance overhead and a customer retention rate unprecedented in the industry."
