Huntsville, Alabama (January 9, 1995) - SIRSI is pleased to announce that its Unicorn Collection Management System will be installed at Sul Ross State University's Bryan Wildenthal Memorial Library, located in Alpine, Texas.
The Unicorn Collection Management System is a fully-integrated, client/server system providing automation solutions for any library task. UNIX-based, Unicorn runs on a wide range of hardware platforms and in a variety of networking environments. Modules can be chosen and configured to meet each library's unique needs.
The positive remarks of current SIRSI customers were a factor in the library's choice, according to Gilda Ortego, Library Director. "I talked with present SIRSI customers, and their references were wonderful. The library staff also visited SIRSI sites and found Unicorn to be the most functional system at the most reasonable cost."
Unicorn will be installed on an IBM RISC System/6000 Model 360 host computer. The library has licensed the Academic Reserves, Acquisitions, Authority Control, Bibliographic and Inventory Control, Circulation, Enhanced Public Access, Materials Booking, Request, and Serials Control Modules. In addition, the library has also licensed the BISAC Interface, Internet Navigator, and X12 Software.
