Just one day after announcing its order from the René Descartes University (Paris V) for the implementation of ALEPH 500, Datapoint France, our exclusive distributor, has another success story to report, namely its selection by the Université Catholique de Lyon (Catholyon) to replace a SIBIL system with ALEPH 500 at the university's central library and eight branch libraries.

This constitutes the fifth SIBIL upgrade by ALEPH, others being the Universities of Basel and Bern, the universities of Montpellier and the libraries of the Luxembourg Consortium.

The Catholyon, founded in 1875, is comprised of five faculties (theology, philosophy, economic and social sciences, literature and practical sciences) and a number of specialized institutes (Christian sources, family, dialectology, roman languages, regional culture, international solidarity, Christian studies of Judaism, etc.).

The Catholyons central library serves some 4,000 registered patrons and offers approximately 250,000 documents and over 2,000 periodicals. Its collection contains 27 incunabula and 67 manuscripts going back to the 13th century.

With ALEPH 500, the Catholyon confidently expects to improve its library services, inter alia by adding ALEPH 500's high-performance Intranet and Internet search tools and communications via the Z39.50 gateway. Initially, ALEPH will operate on 15 licensed concurrent staff users and 30 concurrent OPAC users.
