Prague, Czech Republic -- March 9, 2026. CELUS continues to transform e-resource usage workflows with the introduction of a Data Hub into its platform. With the Data Hub, librarians can easily pull their aggregated COUNTER and non-COUNTER usage stats directly from the CELUS Platform into business intelligence tools.
Today, academic librarians are relying on data analytics to help them address ongoing and unprecedented budget cuts. Since e-resource expenditures constitute a substantial portion of a library's budget, patron use of these resources is a vital service metric for inclusion in any cost-reduction analysis.
To aid the budgetary assessment, librarians are turning to tools such as Microsoft PowerBI, Tableau, Grafana, and Google Looker Studio to build a holistic view of operational metrics; a view that incorporates usage data alongside EZ-Proxy logs, ILL transactions, and resource expenditures.
"With the new Data Hub, librarians can now easily incorporate e-resource usage statistics into their business intelligence tools, which ensures a comprehensive, 360-degree understanding of library operations," said Ken DiFiore, CELUS Library Ambassador. The underlying technology of the CELUS Data Hub is a ClickHouse database. ClickHouse is a high-performance analytical database designed to handle massive datasets efficiently. CELUS developers created a mechanism to replicate a CELUS subscriber's system to a ClickHouse database. Once the dataset has been loaded into ClickHouse, CELUS subscribers may pull data directly into their business intelligence tools.
