Leesburg, VA – September 10, 2025. Paratext announces a major enhancement to nest, the new holdings analysis and reporting service integrated into bird: Base Inventory of Research Databases.
Paratext launched nest in February 2025, giving bird & nest libraries the means to quickly create reports comparing their database holdings to other library collections.
Now, Paratext's has expanded functionality to include the ability to create "our nest"---unlimited, customizable library groups within nest.
With 180 department categories and 750+ library holdings to select from, strategists can now create comprehensive comparative reports in minutes, rather than the months required to do so through internal initiatives.
nest reports provide support for new budget requests; improve and expand curriculum support and boost public service awareness, via a single integrated application.
Eric M. Calaluca, President of Paratext, noted that, "These latest improvements are the direct result of requests from our current user base. Librarians have struggled for decades attempting to calibrate how their database collections compare to peer institutions, often with inconclusive results.
Now, however, library leaders can generate local comparative reports on all relevant dB content; delineate areas for institutional growth; and most important, buttress their ongoing requests for funds to support research and grant initiatives."
bird & nest are produced by Paratext, in partnership with Compendium Library Services. Additional information and request for library trial access can be found at https://bird-and-nest.com
