Hershey, PA -- September 9, 2025. IGI Global Scientific Publishing, dedicated to "Publishing Tomorrow's Research Today" since 1988, announced the termination of its distribution agreement with Baker & Taylor and its Print-On-Demand subsidiary, Bookmasters, effective September 3, 2025. The decision was made in response to Baker & Taylor's ongoing inconsistency and financial instability.
As of August 18, 2025, all IGI Global Scientific Publishing orders submitted through Baker & Taylor were placed on hold. At that time, Baker & Taylor was instructed to classify all incoming requests as "back orders" and suspend production and distribution until their financial situation was resolved. As a result, any libraries that placed orders with Baker & Taylor during this period are strongly advised to cancel them, as they will not be fulfilled following the termination of the agreement.
Moving forward, IGI Global Scientific Publishing encourages libraries to acquire its titles through trusted industry suppliers, including:
- GOBI Library Solutions
- Ingram's iPage
- The IGI Global Scientific Publishing Online Book Store
Libraries utilizing the IGI Global Scientific Publishing Online Bookstore can create a dedicated Library Account, which provides special discounts and invoicing options, eliminating the need for credit card processing for each transaction.
"While we regret the disruption this may cause for some of our valued library partners, we remain committed to ensuring reliable and timely access to our high-quality research publications," said Nick Newcomer, Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing at IGI Global Scientific Publishing. "Our trusted distribution partners stand ready to support libraries during this transition."
IGI Global Scientific Publishing expressed hope that Baker & Taylor will overcome its current challenges, leaving the possibility open to revisit the distribution relationship in the future. In the meantime, the publisher affirms its dedication to providing academic institutions worldwide with the critical research resources they need.
