Some libraries are engaged with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and are willing to connect their collections to them. Libraries can contribute to SDGs by preserving knowledge, ensuring access to information, and fostering lifelong learning.
Some academic institutions have been evaluated by rankings such as the Times Higher Education (THE), indicating their commitment to addressing the world's most pressing challenges, including environmental sustainability, social inclusion, economic growth, and partnerships.
To help libraries contribute to this initiative, Sophia released a functionality that allows libraries to relate their resources to the SDGs, making them easy for patrons to identify and discover in the catalog.
This functionality is applied to library catalogs and institutional repositories, simplifying data management. For patrons, SDGs visualization is easy to discover, preserving colors and icons from the 2030 Agenda. For librarians, all 17 SGDs are part of the cataloguing interface, ready to be used and related to every bibliographic record.
SDGs can be used for academic, school, and public libraries.
