The Library Corporation (TLC) is proud to announce the upcoming release of Library.Solution version 5.8, a major update that enhances both usability and accessibility while reinforcing TLC's commitment to delivering the industry's leading library management platform.

A Mobile-Forward PAC Experience

One of the most requested features from Library.Solution customers — a fully mobile-adaptive public access catalog (PAC) — will soon be available in v5.8. Library users will be able to seamlessly search the catalog, pay fines, and register for library cards directly from their mobile browser. This upgrade will ensure greater flexibility and convenience for today's on-the-go patrons while improving the user experience across all devices.

Customizable Branding for PAC

The most significant update in this release is the introduction of PAC color customization. Libraries and schools will be able to easily align the look and feel of their catalog interface with their organizational branding. Whether using the built-in color picker or inputting exact Hex or RGB codes, customization is simple and intuitive — no coding required.

More than just a cosmetic upgrade, this feature was developed in response to real-world accessibility concerns. When the Office of Civil Rights (OCR) filed a case against two of our partner libraries over an inaccessible public access catalog (PAC), TLC responded swiftly with a solution that not only resolved the issue but laid the groundwork for broader accessibility. This proactive approach positions TLC customers ahead of the curve as the Department of Justice's ruling requiring Web Content Accessibility Guideline (WCAG) compliance for public entities — including libraries — takes effect in 2026.

TLC has a long-standing commitment to equity of access and is proud to have worked with the OCR to support Section 503 of the Rehabilitation Act and Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Additional Enhancements

Library.Solution v5.8 also includes several backend improvements to streamline staff workflows, such as a dedicated reporting directory for schools and a refactored LS2 Cataloging structure with title locking, improved import functionality, and easier navigation.
