June 13, 2025. Roanoke County Public Schools (RCPS) is wrapping up a successful first semester with the implementation of Library.Solution for Schools, a library management system provided by The Library Corporation (TLC). RCPS made the choice to migrate over their winter break from Follett Destiny, citing reliability issues with their former system.

The decision to transition to TLC was a carefully considered one for RCPS. In addition to meeting technical requirements — like the ability to email checkout receipts to both students and guardians — RCPS was especially drawn to TLC's user-friendly patron interface. The kid-friendly design tailored for early elementary students stood out as a key advantage.

"The best part of moving to TLC — besides the simple fact that we no longer have books mysteriously checking themselves in and out, which has been just fantastic," stated Heather Balsley, RCPS's lead librarian, "— is seeing how engaged our students are with the landing page carousels and the Kids PAC. The kids are just so excited."

Balsley also praised TLC's flexible reporting capabilities and is eager to explore the full potential of district-wide reporting once school libraries have wrapped up their end-of-year returns. She's equally excited about the upcoming v5.8 update, which includes the ability to send additional overdue notices to guardians — an especially valuable tool during the hectic final weeks of the school year, when tracking down late materials can feel like its own full-time job.

"A lifelong love of reading starts at the school library. So it is always a delight to see our school libraries like Roanoke County Public Schools using Library.Solution for Schools to support their students and their education," said Annette Murphy, CEO and co-founder for TLC. "We look forward to serving the schools for many years to come."

TLC hosts RCPS's data through TLC.Cloud Services, including over 100,000 titles over 260,000 annual transactions. For more information on Library.Solution for Schools, send an email to sales@TLCdelivers.com.
