IGI Global Scientific Publishing: "Publishing Tomorrow's Research Today" since 1988, proudly announces the four winners of its 2024 Librarian Conference Scholarship ( https://www.igi-global.com/newsroom/archive/four-winners-announced-2024-charleston/6301/ ). Each recipient was awarded $1,000 to support their attendance and travel expenses for the 2024 Charleston Conference, a premier event for academic libraries and scholarly publishing. This scholarship highlights the commitment of IGI Global Scientific Publishing to advancing academic librarianship and fostering collaboration within the scholarly publishing community. Scholarship recipients applied by submitting their answers to one of three prompts about the interplay between artificial intelligence and the future of libraries.

Congratulations to J. Denice Lewis (Wake Forest University), Christopher Hollister (University at Buffalo), Jeffery Wagner (Penn State College of Medicine), and Hannah Park (American University).

IGI Global Scientific Publishing asked the question: What are the implications of using AI tools for academic research and scholarly publications, and how will this impact library support for the research efforts of faculty, students, and staff?

J. Denice Lewis: "... Libraries must adapt their services and staff expertise to effectively support AI-assisted academic research while addressing the associated challenges and continuous evolution of AI tools."

Christopher Hollister: "...We are already seeing the benefits or using AI tools to form research questions, find relevant literature, analyze data, generate images, and improve the overall readability of submitted manuscripts."

IGI Global Scientific Publishing asked the question: With the library one of the few trusted, reliable guides to credible information, how will the role of librarians adapt to combat the misinformation hazards, biases, and other pitfalls of AI systems?

Jeffery Wagner: "Librarians have been teaching information literacy skills for decades and continue to adapt and embrace changes that impact the information landscape within which they lead others through..."

Hannah Park: "As AI systems become more prevalent, librarians will be needed more than ever..."

Nick Newcomer, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at IGI Global Scientific Publishing, commented on the awards, saying, "At IGI Global Scientific Publishing, we understand that librarians are vital to the advancement of research. By supporting their participation in the Charleston Conference, we aim to empower them with the resources they need to make a lasting impact, and to connect with them to build the foundation for future collaborations. We are honored to support this year's winners and recognize their commitment to excellence in the field."
