Press Release: Schlager Group [October 23, 2024]

Announcing the launch of the Schlager Digital Library, the only DRM-free library reference and e-text course solution for primary source content

Dallas, TX -- October 23, 2024. Schlager Group is thrilled to officially launch the Schlager Digital Library platform, a one-stop e-text and library reference resource providing hand-selected primary sources suitable for undergraduate and graduate research and classroom instruction. Today's platform release also marks the launch of Essential Primary Sources, the company's introductory content collection.

The Schlager Digital Library platform was developed in partnership with NewGen KnowledgeWorks, known for their expertise in enhancing accessibility, improving the user experience, and creating efficient content management systems. The platform provides 100% DRM-free content, allowing for unlimited use and downloads for a frictionless research experience. Available on any - or multiple - devices, the platform delivers the flexibility that busy students and faculty need.

Unlike other primary source collections available to academic libraries, Essential Primary Sources provides a focused, entirely hand-curated collection, featuring 2,500 of the most iconic, and highly studied and taught primary sources serving courses of study across U.S. and world history, ethnic and gender studies, American government, and religious studies. Scholars select reputable primary sources and provide vital commentary and perspective on the societal impact, historical figures, and events that shaped history. The collection can be used by both upper-division students doing specialized research and the larger community of students taking introductory survey courses.

Today's launch is the realization of a longtime goal for Neil Schlager, Founder and CEO of Schlager Group. Since his early days in publishing, Schlager has seen the promise for primary sources to transform human understanding. "In everything we do, we champion the pursuit of historical knowledge by students and researchers, helping them to apply that understanding to today's world," said Schlager. "I'm proud of the work we've done to create the platform and the Essential Primary Sources collection and appreciate the many institutions that have already signed on and placed trust in us to positively impact research and instruction at their schools."
