CHICAGO—July 31, 2024—The American Association of Law Libraries (AALL), is pleased to announce that Cornell H. Winston will lead the Association as the 2024-2025 president. Winston, who was elected by his fellow members in the fall of 2022, officially began his term as president at the conclusion of the 2024 AALL Annual Meeting & Conference in Chicago.
With a distinguished career of 36 years in law librarianship, Winston brings a wealth of leadership and experience to AALL. His tenure includes participation on many committees, serving as the AALL Treasurer (2019-2022), and being an Executive Board member (2006-2009). He is currently the law librarian and records center supervisor for the United States Attorney's Office in Los Angeles, California.
During his term as AALL President, Winston will focus on several key initiatives, including:
- Fostering a Culture of Belonging & Inclusivity: Extend the Inclusive Community Outreach Special Committee for another year, focusing on creating engagement opportunities that are accessible to all members through open communication, promoting diverse perspectives, and building a stronger community.
- Embracing Boldness: With a "Be Bold" theme for the 2025 AALL Annual Meeting & Conference in Portland, Oregon, the focus will be on the evolving roles of law librarians and to push the boundaries of what is possible.
- Professional Development: Offering new programs aimed at equipping legal information professionals with the latest skills and knowledge in emerging technologies and best practices.
- 2025-2028 Strategic Plan: Lead the effort to create a comprehensive new strategic plan, focusing on the future growth and sustainability of the Association, addressing emerging trends, and setting long-term goals.

Winston has been at the United States Attorney's Office, one of the largest in the United States, for 23 years, and has over 40 years of library experience working at both a law school and law firms.
A long-time resident of Los Angeles, California, he enjoys spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, cooking, and eating great food.
